Bakti Sosial di RS Bhayangkara Kota Jayapura ini merupakan salah satu Program BNI Berbagi untuk kesehatan. Kegiatan ini merupakan rangkaian dari Bakti Sosial Operasi Katarak pada empat lokasi di Indonesia Timur dengan target 450 mata.

Katarak adalah proses degeneratif berupa kekeruhan di lensa bola mata sehingga menyebabkan menurunnya kemampuan penglihatan sampai kebutaan.
Corporate Secretary BNI Okki Rushartomo mengatakan, upaya pencegahan kebutaan akibat katarak telah menjadi tanggung jawab semua pihak.
Perseroan berupaya proaktif meningkatkan kualitas kesehatan masyarakat sekaligus menurunkan angka kebutaan akibat katarak di Indonesia.
Disadari bahwa katarak merupakan gangguan mata yang dapat mempengaruhi aktivitas masyarakat. Walau dapat dioperasi, tidak semua orang bisa mendapatkan akses ke fasilitas kesehatan yang baik.
“Semoga program kami ini dapat bermanfaat bagi seluruh masyarakat dan menjadi percontohan bagi banyak pelaku ekonomi,” katanya.
