“Sepanjang tahun 2022, PGN berhasil mencatatkan pengurangan emisi (Ton CO2eq) sebesar 132.092,17 atau meningkat 32% dibandingkan tahun 2021,” ungkap Rahmat.
Pemanfaatan gas bumi untuk berbagai kebutuhan merupakan upaya nyata PGN dalam menjaga kualitas lingkungan karena karakter gas bumi sebagai energi fosil yang paling ramah lingkungan.
“Untuk industri, PGN menyalurkan dalam jumlah besar. Selain untuk efisiensi produksi, pembakarannya lebih sempurna sehingga tidak menimbulkan asap pekat yang tidak baik untuk udara sekitar,” imbuhnya.
Hal itu, lanjut dia, juga menarik bagi para investor yang concern terhadap sumber energi hijau. Selain itu, PGN juga berkomitmen terus mengembangkan jaringan gas untuk rumah tangga.
Satu juta jaringan gas untuk sektor rumah tangga berpotensi dapat menekan emisi karbon hingga 60.000 CO² per tahun. Program ini juga dapat membantu pemerintah menurunkan impor energi dan menekan biaya subsidi energi.
Menjawab isu kualitas udara di beberapa daerah akhir-akhir ini, gas bumi juga bisa menjadi alternatif bahan bakar kendaraan.
“Gas bumi memiliki nilai oktan tinggi dan rendah emisi, menjadikan emisi BBG sebagai bahan bakar yang rendah emisi hingga 20%. Hal ini membuat kualitas udara menjadi lebih baik,” pungkas Rachmat.
