Hal ini menyusul hadinya ICONNET, produk internet fix broadband dari PLN ICON Plus. Sebelumnya, Pulau Lepar merupakan salah satu pulau di Provinsi Kepulauan Bangka Belitung yang belum sepenuhnya terhubung oleh jaringan internet fix broadband.
Direktur Utama PLN ICON Plus, Ari Rahmat Indra Cahyadi menyampaikan hadirnya layanan internet ICONNET hingga ke Pulau Lepar, Bangka Selatan, adalah untuk mendukung program pemerintah memberikan kesempatan akses internet fix broadband secara merata diseluruh Indonesia.
“ICONNET hadir di Pulau Lepar untuk memberikan akses internet kepada masyarakat berkat dukungan infrastruktur kabel fiber optic yang ada pada jaringan kabel bawah laut milik PLN sepanjang kurang lebih 20 kilometer. Kabel laut yang menghubungkan Pulau Bangka, tepatnya dari Kabupaten Bangka
Selatan ke Pulau Lepar ini tidak saja menghadirkan layanan kelistrikan tapi sekaligus juga jaringan internet ke Pulau Lepar” ujar Ari, sebagaimana sambutan tertulisnya yang dibacakan oleh Direktur Bisnis Konektivitas PLN ICON Plus, Sigit Witjaksono di Pulau Lepar, Selasa, 5 September 2023.
Pada kesempatan yang sama, sebagai bentuk Tanggung Jawab Sosial dan Lingkungan, melalui program PLN Peduli Pendidikan, PLN ICON Plus menyerahkan sejumlah bantuan kepada sekolah yang ada di Pulau Lepar.
PLN Icon Plus memberikan bantuan fasilitas internet gratis selama 1 tahun kepada 10 sekolah, mulai dari TK, SD, SMP hingga SMA yang ada di Pulau Lepar serta masing-masing sekolah mendapatkan bantuan 2 (dua) unit Laptop untuk mendukung kegiatan pembelajaran digital.
