Penjajakan tersebut menjadi langkah awal footprint Pertamina hulu di luar negeri, sehingga memperkuat ketahanan energi nasional.
“Spirit bring the barrel home, footprint Pertamina di sektor hulu untuk meningkatkan produksi, agar bisa diolah di kilang milik Pertamina di dalam negeri,” tambah Nicke.
Tak hanya hulu dan energi baru terbarukan panas bumi, Pertamina juga memiliki kesempatan ekspansi di berbagai bidang energi dengan adanya kerjasama Government-to-Government (G-to-G) antara Pemerintah Indonesia dan Pemerintah Kenya.
Kerjasama bilateral ini turut membuka peluang investasi dan kerjasama Pertamina di kawasan Afrika. “Kami mengapresiasi peran Pemerintah, di antaranya Kementerian Koordinator Kemaritiman dan Investasi, Kementerian Luar Negeri, serta Kementerian Energi dan Sumber Daya Mineral, dalam mendukung upaya ekspansi Pertamina di kancah global,” paparnya.
Sebelum lawatan tersebut, Pertamina telah memiliki Nota Kesepahaman dengan GUMA, perusahaan energi di Afrika, tentang Aliansi Strategis dalam Proyek-Proyek Potensial di Upstream, Midstream, dan Bisnis Downstream.
Kerjasama tersebut termasuk eksplorasi dan produksi lapangan migas, pengembangan pipa migas, hingga pengembangan kilang minyak dan petrokimia. Selain itu, juga perdagangan produk petroleum Pertamina di Kenya.
“Kami membawa spirit pemerintah, semangat Konferensi Asia-Afrika, Bandung tahun 1955. Kita sekarang kerja sama dalam pengembangan ekonomi. Pertamina sendiri membuka peluang kerja sama sektor upstream hingga downstream, termasuk geothermal di Kenya,” tambah Nicke.
