URBANCITY.CO.ID – PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. atau BNI mendapat tugas krusial dari Menteri Badan Usaha Milik Negara (BUMN) Erick Thorir untuk semakin memperkuat program perlindungan pekerja migran melalui pegelolaan data dan pembuatan produk jasa keuangan.
Hal tersebut disampaikan Menteri Badan Usaha Milik Negara (BUMN) Erick Thohir dalam diskusinya bersama para diaspora di acara Indonesia Cafe Talk, di Tokyo, Jepang, Senin (21/8/2023).
Erick menyampaikan, data pekerja migran Indonesia di luar negeri selama ini belum terkelola dengan baik, sehingga perlu ada institusi yang berinisiatif pada hal tersebut. Dari lima juta pekerja migran Indonesia yang ada di luar negeri, sebanyak 4,5 juta berstatus ilegal.
Menurut Erick, sebagai bank milik negara yang memiliki banyak kantor cabang di luar negeri dan telah eksis selama puluhan tahun, BNI mampu untuk mengelola data tersebut sehingga bisa membuat program perlindungan yang tepat guna bagi para pekerja migran.
“BNI memang dari tahun 50 sudah ada di luar negeri, kenapa BNI enggak jadi bank internasionalnya Indonesia, artinya tugas BNI yaitu menjaga pekerja migran,” ujarnya.
Erick menyampaikan, kebanyakan pekerja migran Indonesia di luar negeri saat ini sangat rentan karena tidak memiliki perlindungan hukum, perlindungan jaminan kesehatan dan kecelakaan kerja di tempat kerja karena statusnya yang ilegal.
Bahkan, Erick mendengar cerita dari anak muda Indonesia yang cacat akibat kecelakaan kerja dan tidak mendapatkan benefit asuransi perlindungan kerja di tempat kerjanya di luar negeri.
