Salah seorang mahasiswa Program Studi Destinasi Pariwisata yang juga berperan sebagai koordinator kegiatan, Bayu Chandra Jaya Tambunan, mengungkapkan saat pembukaan Geo-Tourism Festival 2023 yang diawali dengan drama musikal mengangkat kisah Danau Toba yang diperankan oleh mahasiswa Politeknik Pariwisata Medan.
“Ini kami hadirkan untuk mengajak para hadirin mengingat tentang legenda bersejarah Danau Toba yang tidak boleh kita lupakan,” tutur Bayu.
Adapun sejumlah kompetisi yang dipertandingkan dalam Geo-Tourism Festival di antaranya di bidang akademik meliputi cerdas cermat, story telling, dan vlog. Kemudian bidang entertainment mulai dari fashion show, tari kreasi, dan coswalk. Lalu bidang olahraga terdapat pertandingan basket 3×3 dan lomba ketangkasan barus berbaris.
Beberapa kegiatan menarik juga dihadirkan untuk memeriahkan jalannya festival, di antaranya bazaar makanan dan minuman, mini games, photobooth session, dan ada beberapa guest star yang spesial yaitu, Donnie Sibarani dan The Fame.
