URBANCITY.CO.ID – Jelang tahun politik di 2024, Menteri Agama Yaqut Cholil Qoumas mengimbau masyarakat agar tidak memilih pemimpin yang memecah belah umat.
Yaqut juga meminta masyarakat tidak memilih calon pemimpin yang menggunakan agama sebagai alat politik untuk memperoleh kekuasaan pada Pemilu 2024 mendatang.
“Harus dicek betul. Pernah nggak calon pemimpin kita, calon presiden kita ini, memecah-belah umat. Kalau pernah, jangan dipilih,” ujar Menag Yaqut di Garut, Minggu (3/9/2023).
Berbicara saat menghadiri Tablig Akbar Idul Khotmi Nasional Thoriqoh Tijaniyah ke-231 di Pondok Pesantren Az-Zawiyah, Tanjung Anom, Garut, Jawa Barat, Menag Yaqut menegaskan bahwa agama seharusnya dapat melindungi kepentingan seluruh umat, masyarakat.

“Umat Islam diajarkan agar menebarkan Islam sebagai rahmat, rahmatan lil ‘alamin, rahmat untuk semesta alam. Bukan rahmatan lil islami, tok,” ujarnya.
Karenanya, pemimpin yang ideal, menurut Gus Men, harus mampu menjadi rahmat bagi semua golongan.
“Kita lihat calon pemimpin kita ini pernah menggunakan agama sebagai alat untuk memenangkan kepentingannya atau tidak. Kalau pernah, jangan dipilih,” tegasnya.
Menurut Yaqut, hal ini bertujuan agar bangsa Indonesia memperoleh pemimpin yang amanah dan dapat mengemban tanggung jawab kemajuan negeri ini.
“Saya berpesan kepada seluruh ikhwan dan akhwat ini agar nanti ketika memilih para pemimpin, memilih calon pemimpin kita, calon presiden dan wakil presiden, kita, lihat betul rekam jejaknya,” pungkasnya. (***)
