Meskipun memiliki tingkat kompleksivitas produksi cukup tinggi, namun di dalam kelompok industri tersebut terdapat para pelaku usaha yang masih berskala atau IKM.
Menteri Perindustrian Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita mengatakan, industri otomotif masih terus bertumbuh dan tetap menjadi bisnis yang menjanjikan di tahun 2023.
Dilansir dari data Gaikindo dan AISI, pada Januari-Oktober tahun 2023, jumlah penjualan dalam negeri kendaraan roda empat atau lebih telah mencapai sebesar 836.048 unit dan total penjualan dalam negeri kendaraan roda dua sebesar 5.237.976 unit.
Sejalan dengan ini, indikator Kepercayaan Industri (IKI) yang dirilis oleh Kemenperin menunjukan angka 50,70 yang masih dalam fase ekspansi pada bulan Oktober 2023. Nilai tersebut didorong oleh meningkatnya IKI di 14 subsektor industri, termasuk di dalamnya sektor Industri Kendaraan Bermotor, Trailer, dan Semi Trailer.
